Lecture Capture: What Happens?
Lecture capture is the recording process used by the School of Medicine for on campus lectures. Lectures for the School of Medicine are recorded using the recording software Panopto.

This guide is designed to highlight the steps you need to complete on the day to ensure a successful lecture capture. A lecture facilitator will be on hand to assist you.
What is a lecture facilitator?
Lecture Facilitators are members of the Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team. Their role is to ensure that the technology and resources being used during your session operate to meet the School of Medicine's high standards for on campus lectures.
Unless requested otherwise, the facilitator will stay for the entire session as backup support.
- The lecture facilitator will be there to greet you at the confirmed venue 15 minutes before your session start time.
- Login to the lecture theatre PC if you have an MWS account. If you are an external lecturer, the facilitator will log in for you.
- Open your PowerPoint slides. Please ensure that you have quick access to your slides:
- Bring presentation on a USB stick.
- Internals can use their M Drive or desktop to quickly locate slides.
- Email slides to relevant administration team prior to the lecture.
- Ensure the attendance code is visible on your presentation. The facilitator will assist you if you have issues generating the code.
- Please inform the facilitator if you require support setting up interactive tools.
- The lecture facilitator will open Panopto Recorder. Your lecture will be recorded into the On Campus folder under School of Medicine - MBChB STAFF ONLY.
- Microphones and camera will be checked by the facilitator to make sure they're working up to standard.
- When you feel ready, the facilitator will click to record the session.
