Guidance and support for delivering on campus lectures
Please see below for details about what you can expect to happen on the day of your lecture.
Details on the main lectures theatres used for teaching in the School of Medicine:
Lecture capture is the recording process used by the School of Medicine for on campus lectures.
Sessions are recorded using Panopto and then uploaded to the student virtual learning environment, Canvas. You should not include any material in your lecture that should not be uploaded to Canvas.
A Lecture Facilitator from the TEL team will be present to ensure the lecture is being recorded.
Please see Lecture Capture: What Happens? for what happens during the process.
In line with new University Attendance policy, all lecturers with a University of Liverpool MWS login will be required to generate an attendance code before their lecture.
This code must be distributed to students so that they can register their attendance via the timetabling app.
This policy applies to all Year 1 and 2 lectures, Years 3-5 are not yet under this new system.
What if I don't have an MWS login? Assistance will be provided for any external lecturers who do not have an MWS login. Please contact the relevant administration team or submit an enquiry to the TEL team.

Please aim to begin your lecture before five minutes past the start time. Ensure your lecture is finished by fifty minutes past the start time.
Why shouldn't I use the full hour slot? Finishing at least 10 minutes early allows time for students to prepare for/travel to their next teaching session and for set up for subsequent lectures

Please always use a microphone in the lecture theatre, even if the session is not being recorded. In large lecture theatres, students sitting near the back can face difficulty hearing if no mic is used.
During Q&As lecturers should repeat the questions asked by students so they are audible to all attendees and on the recording.
Click Stop on the Panopto Recording when you have finished your session.
Make sure all students have had the opportunity to note down the attendance code.
Return the mic to the mic cradle.
Log out of the Lecture Theatre computer. Externals - the lecture facilitator will log out of their account on the computer.
