On Campus Lectures - Prepare

Guidance and support for delivering on campus lectures

The guides on this page are designed to help you prepare to deliver your lecture. Included are important factors that you should consider when planning.

Engaging Teaching Activities and Practices

Face-to-face sessions should be interactive and engaging. Below are examples of activities and practices that help students to engage with their learning:

  • Clarify any preparation or post-session work
  • Provide clear learning objectives and explicitly state what students should retain from each lecture
  • Use case studies and scenarios to bridge theory and practice
  • Use small groups or pairs to encourage discussion and consolidate understanding
  • Incorporate quizzes and opportunities for Q&As

Interactive tools and equipment are available to enhance your session. Further information for this is available at Interactive Teaching Resources – Prepare.

Preparing Presentation Slides

If you are using a presentation slide deck in your recording, you should use the branded School of Medicine PowerPoint Templates - download at the bottom of this page. The information in this guide should be considered when preparing your slide deck.

What do I need to know about copyright?

Any 3rd party materials used by staff in teaching and learning must adhere to copyright law. The following guidance offers a brief ‘need to know’ overview of some essentials, and information provided by the University of Liverpool library.
